Do blog posts help with AEO?
A blog post helps with answer engine optimization only when it answers one real question that your customers ask, in the first paragraph, on a page that can rank for it. A monthly post about company news does nothing. A post titled with the question and opened with the answer can hold the box for years.
Why most blogs do not help
They are written to have a blog. The titles are topics, not questions. The answer, if there is one, is in paragraph six. And the post covers three things at once, so Google cannot match it to any one search.
What a post that works looks like
- The title is the question, as people type it.
- The first paragraph answers it in two or three sentences.
- The rest explains, with headings for the sub-questions.
- It links to the service page where the reader can act.
- It is updated when the answer changes, with the date shown.
Post or page?
If the question is about a service you sell, answer it on the service page. If it is a question people ask before they know they need you, "why is my water heater leaking," it is a post. Both are answers; the difference is where the reader is in deciding.
Questions people ask
How often should I post?
When you have a question worth answering. Ten good answers beat fifty updates.
Should I delete old posts?
Posts that answer nothing and get no visits, yes, with a redirect to the nearest page that does. They dilute the site.
Can AI write the posts?
It can draft them from your facts. A person who knows the trade has to check every claim, and the first sentence has to be a real answer, not a summary.
