What does an AEO agency actually do?
An AEO agency finds the questions your customers ask before they buy, writes the answers on your site in the form Google lifts into the answer box, marks them up so Google can match them, and measures every month which questions you hold. That is the whole job, and you should be able to see each part of it in your report.
The first month
The agency pulls your questions from Search Console, from the People Also Ask box for your services, and from your own front desk. It checks which of those questions your site answers now, and how well: is there a heading, is the answer in the first sentence, does the page rank. You get a list of questions, ranked by how often they are asked and how close you are to winning them.
The ongoing work
- Writing or rewriting the answer on the right page, one question at a time.
- Adding FAQ and how-to structured data where the page really has question and answer pairs.
- Fixing the ranking of pages that answer well but sit on page three.
- Checking Search Console for the questions you now hold, and which competitor holds the rest.
- Reporting it in plain language, with the traffic each answer brought.
What to watch for
An agency that adds FAQ blocks to every page and calls it AEO. An agency that cannot show you, in Search Console, which questions you hold. And one that promises a number of snippets, since Google decides, not the agency.
