Ask right after the job, and ask a specific question: "Would you mind saying what we did and how it went?" Customers who are prompted that way write "replaced the water heater the same afternoon" instead of "great service." Reply to every review, and use the reply to add the fact if the customer left it out: "Glad the same-day install worked for you."

What not to do

Do not gate reviews, ask only happy customers, or buy them. The platforms detect it, and an assistant that finds a review profile that looks managed discounts all of it. Do not put review text on your site that does not exist on the platform.
