How often do AI assistants update their information?

For anything the assistant looks up live, hours, services, address, reviews, the answer updates as soon as the assistant re-reads the source, usually within days for Perplexity and within a few weeks for ChatGPT and Gemini. For anything the assistant remembers from training, the update comes with the next model, which can be months. So put every changeable fact on pages the assistants read live, and expect old facts to linger until the old pages are gone.

Two kinds of memory

An assistant has what it learned in training, which is frozen, and what it fetches when you ask, which is current. Business facts should come from the fetch. That happens when the assistant searches, which it does for local questions, and when your page is one it finds and can read.

What speeds it up

Keeping the fact on your own site, in text, on a page that ranks.
Keeping the Google Business Profile current, since it is checked most.
Removing or redirecting old pages so the old fact stops being found.
Updating dates on pages, so the assistant prefers the current version.

What slows it down

Old directory listings nobody claimed. A PDF price list from three years ago still on the server. A news story about the old location. The assistants weigh recent and agreeing sources, but an old fact repeated in five places can outvote a new one stated in one.

Update Google, the site, and the directories the same day. Expect the assistants to reflect it within two to four weeks; Perplexity sooner.

Can I ask the assistant to remember the new fact?

It may remember for your own chat, not for other people. The fix is on the web.

Do they re-read my site on a schedule?

Roughly, and more often for pages that change and get visits. A page updated with a visible date invites a re-read.
