Do I need a new website for AEO and GEO?

Usually not. Answer engines and AI assistants read text, headings, and structured data, and most existing sites can carry those with better pages rather than a rebuild. A new site is warranted when the current one cannot be edited, loads its text with scripts the crawlers cannot run, takes more than a few seconds on a phone, or is built on a platform that will not let you add structured data. Check those four before spending on a rebuild.

What AEO and GEO actually need from a site

Text the crawlers can read, in headings and paragraphs.
One page per service and per location, each editable.
Structured data for the business, the services, and the questions.
A fast load on a phone.
robots.txt that lets the crawlers in.

When the site is the problem

Some sites render everything with JavaScript after the page loads, so the crawlers see an empty shell. Some page builders make it impossible to add schema or set a title per page. Some sites are so slow on a phone that Google deprioritizes them. And some are on a platform nobody at the business can edit, so no answer ever gets written. Any of those justifies a rebuild.

When it is not

A dated design is not a reason. Neither is a competitor with a nicer site. If the pages can be edited, the text is readable, and the site loads, put the money into the pages and the answers, and rebuild later if you still want to.

Our site is WordPress with Elementor. Rebuild?

Almost never. Elementor sites carry titles, headings, and schema fine. The work is in the pages.

Our site is on Wix. Rebuild?

Wix supports structured data and per-page titles now. Check speed and editability; usually it is fine.

If we do rebuild, what matters most?

Keep the addresses of pages that rank, or redirect them. Make every page editable by you. Test that the text is in the HTML.
