Does social media affect AI recommendations?

Social media has a small effect on whether an AI assistant recommends you. The assistants can read public profiles and posts, and they use them as one more source of facts and as a sign the business is active. But the facts they weigh most come from your website, your Google Business Profile, your listings, and your reviews. A business with a great Instagram and a thin website is still hard to recommend.

What they take from social

  • Confirmation of name, location, and what you do, if the profile states them.
  • Activity: a post this month says you are open.
  • Occasionally a fact posted nowhere else, like a holiday closure.
  • Links to your site, which help them find it.

What they cannot get from social

Prices, service details, policies, credentials, and the answers to customer questions, unless you post them as text. Photos and videos are not read as facts. And most of it is behind a login or a feed the crawlers do not follow.

What to do

Fill in the profile fields completely and match them to Google. Link to your site. Post the facts that change, like hours and seasonal services, as text. Then spend the rest of your time on the website and the reviews, where the recommendation is decided.

Questions people ask

Which platform matters most for AI?

Facebook, because its business pages state hours and services and are widely copied. LinkedIn for professional services. The rest are mostly activity signals.

Do assistants read Instagram captions?

Sometimes, when the profile is public and the caption is text. Do not rely on it.

Should I stop posting?

No. Keep it as a sign of life and a place customers check. Just do not expect it to do the website’s job.
